Flexco recently upgraded the Novitool® Pun M™ Mobile Finger Punch, making it easier to use and easier to transport. The Pun M now features a lightweight design, added storage, and universal punch pad.
The affordable Pun M is a faster alternative to a chisel and hammer, producing more accurate straight finger and finger-over-finger punches.
Aluminum replaces steel in the new lightweight, ergonomic design of the Pun M, making it easier to set up and operate for on-the-job repairs and easier to transport from jobsite to jobsite. No external energy source is required as the Pun M operates solely on manpower. A punching force of 11,000 lbs. (50kN) is created by pulling a simple hand-actuated lever.
Open-ended design offers more variety
The Pun M comes in three standard widths – 12”, 24”, and 36” (300 mm, 600 mm, and 900 mm). Its open-ended design makes it possible for operators to punch wider belts in multiple steps. To punch a belt using the Pun M, one belt end is positioned against the end stop and then clamped in place. Precise fingers are punched with each lever pull.
“Punching fingers into belts wider than the tool is easy. Simply punch the first section, then index the tool to the next section and continue,” said Beth Miller, director of marketing for Flexco.
Three punchboards are available for use with the Pun M. The 70 x 15 mm and 80 x 20 mm sizes can be used for standard finger punches, while the 50 x 20 mm (35 mm overlap) can be used for finger-over-finger punches. Storage for an additional punchboard has been added to the unit for easy transportation and use.
“Another update to the Pun M involves the punch pad design,” said Miller. “Instead of using different punch pads, a universal punch pad, which can be installed laterally or longitudinally, is now provided. This punch pad design allows for maximizing the punching width relative to the finger size.”
In addition to the Pun M, Flexco offers the Pun W™, designed especially for higher volume workshop use. These punches can be used in conjunction with Novitool equipment, including the AERO™ Portable Splice Press and the Ply 130™ Ply Separator.
