Repair mechanical belt splices in minutes, unlike vulcanized splices which can take hours or days.
Quick Installation Depending on the belt width and fastener selected, a belt can respliced with a reliable belt fastener from Flexco in approximately 20 minutes. Vulcanization can take hours or even days. Quicker installation means less downtime and greater productivity. Remove Belts Easily Hinge pins can be removed from mechanical splices, allowing the belt to be separated for easy cleaning, installation and removal. This advantage isn't offered by vulcanization. Proactive Maintenance Because a mechanical splice is visible, any wear or deterioration is immediately apparent. Replacement or repairs can be scheduled during brief periods of downtime or at the end of a shift. A deteriorating vulcanized splice, in comparison, is not easily detected. Catastrophic line failure can be the first indication of trouble once adhesion breakdown occurs inside a vulcanized splice.		Easy Installation It's impossible to claim that vulcanization offers any advantage over mechanical fasteners in terms of easy installation. Mechanical fasteners can be installed on-site and typically only requires one installer with basic technical skills. Vulcanization is a long, involved process that often requires trained outside contractors who may have to do the job off-site. Economically Smart It is less expensive to install a mechanical belt splice than a vulcanized splice. Clipper offers a variety of lacers available for on-site maintenance repairs, production lacing or for other special application needs. Clipper hooks are designed for belts up to 13/32" (10mm) and are available in a wide array of sizes, configurations and metal types.
Alligator® Ready Set™ Staple Fastener System The Alligator® Ready Set™ Staple Fastener system is a strong and abrasion resistant splice. Installation is simple: Fit the Ready Set fastener strip onto the belt end, insert into the special installation tool, and drive the staples with a hammer for a strong, dependable splice. Ready Set fasteners are designed for belts from 1/16" (1.5mm) to 1/4" (6.4mm) thick.
Alligator® Belt Lacing Fastener System Alligator® Belt Lacing is a hammer applied splice that does not require any special installation tools. Ideal for low-volume users and designed for belts up to 1/2" (13mm) thick. Alligator lacing is available in continuous lengths to fit any belt width.
Alligator® Plastic Rivet Fastener System For applications where metal fasteners can't be used, the Alligator® Plastic Rivet splice is a non-metallic splice that can be installed on-site with simple installation tools. Alligator Plastic Rivet allows the user to enjoy the advantages of both a mechanical splice and a non-metallic splice (non-abrasive, non-marking, FDA accepted). Designed for belts up to 1/8" (3.2mm).
