Technical Tips

• The 2-Layer Face Strip has been made obsolete and is no longer available.
• The back layer of this design had open slots. It required a Locking Lever and Back Up Bar (with the urethane strip) to lock the hooks tight against the Lacer Pin when lacing.
• The Face Strip was secured into the aluminum extrusion from the front of the Face Strip with a slotted screw or knob. When actuated, the Locking Lever also helped to hold the Face Strip in place.
• The length of the Face Strip was slightly shorter than the outside width of the lacer.
• New Roller Lacers (serial # 60,000+) and Microlacers (serial # ML40,000+) can NOT use 2-Layer Face Strips as they no longer use Locking Levers and Back Up Bars. 2-Layer Face Strips will not be long enough to secure properly in new lacers and they will not hold the hooks properly during installation. If you are supplying customers with Face Strips from your inventory please make sure they receive the appropriate Face Strip.

• The top and middle layers of this Face Strip are the same as that of the 2-Layer Face Strip. The bottom, 3rd layer, is solid and has been designed to properly hold the hooks during installation. The Locking Lever and Back Up Bar are not required with this Face Strip design. This has reduced installation steps and improved the reliability of the lacer.
• The Face Strip needs to be secured from the end of the lacer since the Locking Lever has been eliminated. Therefore, the overall length of this Face Strip is slightly longer. Each end of the lacer has a Retaining Latch which secures the Face Strip.
• The 3-Layer Face Strip is required with the new style lacers; 2-Layer Face Strips will NOT work with new lacers (serial # 60,000+).
• A 3-Layer Face Strip can be used with all Roller Lacers with serial numbers 3500+. Please Note: We recommend removing Locking Levers and Back Up Bars prior to use with the new 3-Layer Face Strip. If the user has more than one Face Strip with their tool, we recommend upgrading all Face Strips at this time. If they are not willing to upgrade all at this time then the user can keep these parts on the tool, but they will need to remember to not engage the Locking Lever when using the 3-Layer Face Strip.
• Lacers with serial numbers 3500 - 13870 will require new end plates (P/N 03473).
• Each 3-Layer Face Strip includes the Retaining Latches and step-by-step instructions describing the easy removal of the Locking Lever and Back Up Bar.
