Technical Tips Eliminator® H-Type® Precleaners
Tip: New blade option increases wear life and belt splice compatibility.
Problem: The wear life of a urethane cleaner blade will vary depending upon a number of factors, such as: the type of material being conveyed, the tonnage being run and the belt speed of the conveyor. As an example, in wet sand applications or in other applications where the material is extremely abrasive and the frictional forces of blade-to-belt contact are extreme, the expected wear life of urethane blades will decrease dramatically. In some cases, the blade wear will accelerate to the point of lasting just a few weeks. While the use of urethane blades is required because of mechanical belt splices or rip repairs in the belt, the maintenance to replace worn blades can be time-consuming and costly.
Solution: Flexco now offers a new longer-life urethane blade for the H-Type Precleaners. Reports from the field have shown the new XF-Tips can increase wear life over the standard F-Tip by 2 times or more. Based on the F-Tip's design, two improvements have been made to the XF-Tip:
- The length of the blade tip has been increased from 2-1/2" to 3-1/4" to allow for longer wear. Also, the cross section has been increased by 86% and reinforced to maintain blade-to-belt contact in high material-carrying volume applications.
- The attack angle to the belt has been increased to provide an improved shearing effect on the belt to remove carryback, while creating a smoother interface with the mechanical splice.
Handy Hint: Increase the tip tension to the belt from 22# (on F-Tips) to 28# with the new XF-Tip. The result: an exceptional combination of improved cleaning efficiency and extended blade wear life. The new XF-Tip has a gray body for easy identification. And the new blade tips are interchangeable with F-Tips so no other changes to the cleaner are required.
