Eliminator® H-Type® V-Tip Precleaner
Tip: In extreme abrasive applications special protection may be necessary to prevent deteriorating wear on the backsides of the blade tips.
Problem: In some applications where the carryback material being taken off the belt is extremely abrasive and heavy, wear damage can occur to the backside of the V-Tip. As this abusive material is cleaned off the belt it passes over the tips and actually erodes the nuts holding the tips onto the suspension arms (Fig. 1). If left unchecked it could wear away the nuts and studs to a point where the tips could loosen from the arms.
Solution: Replace your H V-Tips with H Protected V-Tips. The Protected V-Tip has a second row of tungsten carbide that extends over the nuts and studs to provide protection from abusive wear (Fig. 2). This additional row of tungsten carbide offers two benefits: 1) it shields the fasteners, diverting the material flow out and over the backside of the tip (Fig. 3). And 2) it is made of the same high-grade tungsten carbide as the cleaning side of the V-Tip, so it has the same long wear life characteristics and will not wear out before the cleaning tip is ready for replacement. Note: Although the protector side of the tip looks exactly like the cleaning side, the Protected V-Tip is NOT designed to be reversed for a second cleaning side. Doing so would put the studs on the belt side of the tip and could potentially cause damage as the tip wears.
Handy Hint: H Protected V-Tips can be ordered as replacement tips to be added to any cleaner already installed in the field that is experiencing this problem. And as of June 2000, an H-Type cleaner with Protected V-Tips can be ordered standard. |
