1. Determine the length of the piece to be cut.
2. Cut the fastener strip to length by cutting through the bar at the measured location. Locate the diagonal score on the inside of the bar that is nearest to the length required. Using your cutters, snip along the diagonal score (See photo 1). In some cases. it may be necessary to grind down the bar after the cut so that there is no overlap in the lacing.
Note: The Unibar Cutter (Item 03445) is a good tool to use for Alligator 00, 1, 7, and #15. Larger sizes may require the use of a band saw or other powered cutting device.

3. Position the Alligator Lacing onto the belt so that the cut ends match, paying careful attention to keeping the loops in pitch (See photo 2 & photo 3). For maximum consistency. position the longer piece of lacing on the left and the shorter piece on the right.

4. At the other end of the belt, position the fasteners in the same way, with the long piece on the left and the shorter piece on the right. By doing so, the cut pieces will be at opposite ends, creating a flatter splice (See Illustration).
